Move Services
Arrival Time is usually between 8:30 AM and 9:00AM on the day of the service. Sometimes the Arrival Time is adjusted for size of shipment or distance traveled.
Packing services are the most successful when the Customer has placed all of the no-go items in a centralized location with special instructions to the Crew for no-packing. The Packers will automatically pack all of the items in the home that require being placed in cartons for the shipping. We have what we call "Moody-Pak" which is where we will place a very fragile item(s) into a small carton and then pack that carton inside a bigger box. This provides maximum protection.
Loading the van for long distance moving usually takes most of the working day while local moves may take much less depending on the size of the shipment. If you have a large shipment the loading time will take two(2) working days. This decision is usually made at the time of booking your moving dates. Sometimes, on small shipments we will use a local van to pick it up from residence and then transship to the larger van for transport.
The Crew will use various tools to protect the residence and dozens of furniture pads to carefully wrap each piece of furniture for a safe loading inside the moving van. Furniture pads, cardboard, paper, shrink wrap, and plenty of tape are required to make sure all of your items are protected. The combination of these tools and the of the Crew will insure a successful and damage-free move.
Transit time is based on the size of the shipment and the distance between your old home and your new home. We are subject to the Department of Transportation federal guidelines for Public Safety. Consequently, we have restrictions on drive times. Usually, we can travel 400-500 miles per day. Many times on local moves we are able to load and unload in the same day due to less miles traveled and smalled shipments. Our local move Customers will tend to move the smaller items themselves since the old home and the new home are so close together.
On long distance shipments, the transit time is based on the 400-500 mile range for the van. Since the rates are calculated on consolidation (several shipments on the same van), the delivery dates are based on the combination of transit time for the van and the extra days required for the load that is assigned to the van. Large shipments may have a two (2) day spread while smaller shipments going a very long distance may have anywhere from five (5) days to 14 days for a delivery spread. International shipments will have several weeks of transit time.
Unloading the van at your new home is always very exciting. The Crew will need your attention from the very beginning so they can place the items where you instruct them. Usually, unloading the van will require most of the working day. The goal of moving you in your new home is to place all of the heavy items in the proper place, set up the beds, re-assembled items from loading that required dis-assembly, help unpack some of the essential boxes, and anyother need you may have before the Crew departs.
