History
The Moody family has been providing moving services in the Central Virginia area since 1960. Originally, we were an agent for Grey Van Lines which was a part of the Greyhound Bus System. Subsequently, Everett and Beatrice became an agent for North American Van Lines and we remained an agent until June 30, 2011.
Currently, Moody Moving and Storage, Inc is an agent for Stevens Worldwide Van Lines.
Everett and Beatrice Moody started the moving company in late 1959. In addition to the moving company, they operated Concord Riding Ranch which was a regional favorite spot for fun and entertainment. Everett died in 1992 and he is greatly missed. Beatrice (we call her BB) is still living and is keeping everyone on the straight and narrow road.
The moving company grew a little larger each year and various family members became very active in the daily operations. Their sons Tom and Roger Moody worked with the Crews in the summer and during their time off during the school year.
Tom worked in the company after he graduated from University of Richmond until his untimely death in 1985. Roger worked with the company straight out of high school while attending college classes at night. He and his wife, Revonda are currently the owners of the company.
Becky Moody worked in the company for several years until she became a professional in the medical community. Laura Moody came into the company in 1990 and remained there until several years ago. Becky was involved in the Sales and Laura helped out the ADMIN services.
Now, there are children from the third generation working in the company. Clint and his wife, Susan Sherlin and Brian Moody are the active administrative part of the company. They are responsible for the Sales, Operations, and the ADMIN services required for the daily operation of the company. Brian handles the Sales activities and Clint and Susan handle the ADMIN services.
Many of the daily Crew members have been with the company for 15-20 years or more. It really is a family affair when it comes to working in the moving company. Not only are there many members of the Moody family working but there are many family members of the main Crew members working alongside their uncles and aunts.
One of the company's highest assignments was handling 1800 moves in a 30 month period for Norfolk Southern when they merged with Con-Rail. This was an achievement that many moving companies do not have an opportunity to handle. We did and we are very proud of our accomplishment.
This deep history of moving service and the dependable, trustworthy work efforts from all of the family members help keep Moody Moving and Storage strong.
